Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) receives Android 8.1 Oreo with November security patch

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) is now receiving the Android 8.1 Oreo software update which also includes the November Android security patch. Both Wi-Fi and LTE variants of the tablet are reportedly receiving the update.

Galaxy Tab A 10.1 users in South Korea and UAE are among the first to receive the update, but we expect it will roll out to other regions in the comings weeks.

With Android Oreo, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 owners will gain features like picture-in-picture, notification dots, notification channels, an updated auto-fill function, redesigned Settings, battery and backup menus, a detailed backup breakdown, new emoji, Bluetooth 5.0 support and more.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) was released around two years ago and features a 10.1-inch display with a 1920x1200 pixel resolution. It has 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8 MP rear camera, a 2MP camera for video calls, and is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor with 3GB of RAM. You have a 7300mAh battery which should offer some decent battery life. Since the tablet has already received two major Android updates, we expect this will be the last major release of Android it will see in its lifetime.
