WhatsApp for Android update (2.12.19) enables Voice Calls

WhatsApp for Android update (2.12.19)Until today, if you wanted to use the voice call feature on the Android version of messaging app WhatsApp, you had to receive a call from someone who already had the feature. Fortunately WhatsApp for Android has been updated to version 2.12.19 which opens the voice calls feature to everyone.

WhatsApp for Android calling featureAfter installing the updated version of WhatsApp for Android, you will notice a new Calls tab alongside the Chats and Contacts tabs. When you open the Calls tab, you can make a call by tapping on the call icon on the top of the screen. Regularly called contacts will begin to populate the Calls tab after a few calls.

For now, only Android users can call each other with the updated app, but we will hopefully have the voice call feature extended to iOS and Windows Phone users as well.

WhatsApp for iOS may be receiving the voice calls feature in a matter of weeks. Currently the only way for you to make calls using WhatsApp on your iPhone is by jailbreaking your device.
