Sony Xperia Z will receive Android Lollipop update soon

Sony Xperia Z will receive Android LollipopA couple of weeks ago, Sony started pushing the Android 5.0 Lollipop to some of its top-shelf devices like the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. The manufacturer followed that by also pushing out the latest version of Android for the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 Tablet and Xperia Z2. Now the company has confirmed that the Lollipop update will soon be coming to the original Sony Xperia Z.

The news was shared on the Sony Xperia Google+ page, which shows a render of the Xperia Z with the text "coming soon" and the caption "Android Lollipop is coming soon".

The Sony Xperia Z is now a couple of years old, but is still a very capable device. It features a 5 inch full HD touch display, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 13MP rear camera, a secondary camera for video calls and a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM.

The news falls in line with Sony's initial claim which suggested that the entire Xperia Z line will be updated to Lollipop. However, Sony has also confirmed on this post that the Xperia C3 and Xperia T2 Ultra which are non-Z-Series devices, will also be updated to Lollipop.
