Samsung Galaxy S5 for AT&T receives Android 4.4.4 with VoLTE

Samsung Galaxy S5 for AT&TThe Samsung Galaxy S5 for AT&T is now receiving the Android 4.4.4 software update. Ironically, the news comes a day after Verizon customers started receiving the Android 5.0 update. Besides being updated to Android 4.4.4, your Galaxy S5 will also receive bug fixes, enhancements and security updates from Google and various enhancements from AT&T.

AT&T will be including VoLTE to the update along with other new carrier related features and bloatware. Users will also get HD Voice, AT&T Mail (att.net.mail), AT&T Live, Uber and remote support from the carrier. HD Voice requires that both sides of the conversation have the feature and both accounts must be set up to enable the service. In addition, the two parties need to be in an area of the country that supports AT&T HD Voice.

The update is being pushed out OTA (over-the-air) and is reportedly around 487MB in size. You should receive an OTA notification when the update is ready for download, but you can also manually check for it by heading to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates on your device and clicking OK. When you do receive the OTA notification, make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network in order to conserve your data allowance. At the same time, have your battery fully (at least 50%) charged before installing the update.
