HTC One M8 receives Android 5.0 update in India

HTC One M8We recently reported that HTC had started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop software update to the HTC One M8. Now it seems the latest version of Android is rolling out to HTC One M8 customers in India.

While HTC has already stated that they may not be able to meet their 90 day promise to bring Lollipop to its flagships, it is still working hard to bring Lollipop out to its users as fast as it can.

The update for the HTC One M8 in India is 574.17MB in size, which is interesting considering that HTC pushed out a 780MB update to European model, despite offering the same changelog.  The update also brings the 4.18.720.8 software version along with all the Android Lollipop goodies, including  the lock screen and notifications, pull-down Quick Settings, the re-designed multitasking feature and more.

The update will be pushed out OTA (over-the-air) and users will be notified when it is available for their handsets. HTC advises users to connect to Wi-Fi while downloading the update and to ensure their battery is at least 50% charged.

As part of their 90 day promise, HTC has already managed to push out the Lollipop update to the Google Play edition, Developer Edition and Unlocked variant of the HTC One M8. They still have to push out the new version of Android to carrier models including those offered in the U.S.
