MediaTek MT6753 announced, a 64-bit true octa-core chip with full network connectivity

Today, MediaTek has announced the MT6753, a new chip that can help the chip maker gain entry into many new markets. The MT6753 offers eight cores based on ARM’s Cortex A-53 architecture, making it a true octa-core chip with eight independent cores.

This 64-bit SoC also comes with the Mali-T720 GPU for all your graphics related needs. Additionally MediaTek’s new chip offers full network connectivity which means it will work around the world.

The lists of networks supported by the MediaTek MT6753 include TD-LTE, FDD-LTE cat. 4 (featuring data speeds as high as 150Mbps down and up), HSPA+, TD-SCDMA and EDGE. Additionally, the MT6753 is compatible with the CDMA2000 1x / EVDO Rev. A radio frequencies. It also will work with Miracast, Bluetooth 4.0 low energy and dual-band Wi-Fi.

The MT6753 can support a 1080 x 1920 resolution display at 60fps. It also will drive a 16MP camera with certain features including picture-in-picture. In terms of video, the chip will enable H.264 1080p playback at 30fps. It also supports H.265 1080p video playback at 30fps, using less power.

MediaTek expects to start producing the MT6753 by the end of this year’s second quarter.
