Microsoft Outlook Preview released for iOS and Android

Outlook Preview

Microsoft has released a new Outlook Preview app for iOS and Android, which allows fans to take advantage of Microsoft's free email service on the platform of their choice. The app replaces Outlook.com for Android and adds an alternative to the inbuilt email client for iOS users.

You can download the app directly on your device through its respective app store or by using the following link:

The new Outlook Preview is essentially the evolution of Acompli for iOS and Acompli for Android, which Microsoft purchased roughly two months ago. It looks like Outlook Preview for Android will be replacing Outlook.com for Android, while iOS users will finally get a proper, usable Outlook client on their iPhones and iPads. Windows customers will likely have to wait for Windows 10, in order to enjoy a proper mobile version inspired by Acompli.

Acompli is compatible with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Google Apps, Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Outlook.com, Hotmail, MSN and Live. It aggregates all your inboxes into a singular place, which is a great start. Being able to tackle everything in one go is important, especially when you get a lot of email. You’re able to switch between inboxes if you wish, too.

The app itself is well design, minimal and attractive, with an easy to use layout which borrows elements from other popular email apps. In your inbox, you’re able to fast swipe emails into your archive or slow swipe them into the trash, encouraging you to action your emails right there. There’s also thread view for messages, something that every modern email app should support.

What sets Acompli apart is that your calendar and location sharing is built right into new email composition. The Location Sharing feature, as its name suggests allows you to embed a pin of your location in an email.

The Calendar integration allows you to click the calendar icon to quickly pull up your calendar in the app (rather than switching over to the calendar app) and quickly create an invite, or, suggest times that are available for a meeting and let the recipient pick a time that suits. You’re able to manage your full calendar within Acompli, completely negating the need for the native calendar app, as well as maintaining your contacts stored in your email account.
