The YouTube for Android has been updated to version 6.0.11, which brings the new Material Design user interface among other improvements. One you install the update you will be greeted by YouTube's signature bright red palate on the main bar and a full-height navigation drawer under the left menu.

The update will be pushed out it stages, so it may be awhile before it is available for download through your Google Play Store. You can also consider manually downloading the official APK using the following link and installing it on your device.
Once you have the new update installed, you will note that the YouTube launcher icon has undergone the Material Design enhancements to fall in line with the rest of Google's product icons. The Channels section on YouTube for Android has been treated with Lollipop's Palette API pulling colors from the channel art to color the app's toolbar.
The update also brings more advanced search filters to YouTube, a welcome addition to anyone who's struggled to find just what they were looking for in the past.
