Cortana for Windows 10 demonstrated on video

Cortana for Windows 10Microsoft is expected to release Windows 10 sometime next year and will bring a number of new features including the Cortana for Windows 10. A newly surfaced video shows us for the first time what Cortana will look like on the desktop.

Cortana was first released on Windows Phone 8.1 as an exclusive to US customers. Since then Microsoft has worked hard to bring their digital assistant across other regions. Cortana is Windows Phone's response to Apple's Siri and Android's Google Now, but is offered as the most personal assistant

Keep in mind that Windows 10 is still in an early stage of development and Cortana's functionality is far from complete, especially with the user interface. However Microsoft should finalize Cortana in time for the final release of Windows 10.

Cortana in Windows 10, is set to offer all the functions that it serves for the Windows Phone OS. Reminders, Skype calls, adding events to calendar, setting alarms, checking location / map, weather, launching apps etc., are all functions that Microsoft plans to include for the desktop version of Cortana as well.

At this point, users need to activate Cortana by pressing the start listening button, and its not known if a voice activated hands free version will be released on the final build. Given that Microsoft is introducing the voice feature for Lumia Denim update, its not unlikely it will make its way to the desktop as well.
