Windows Phone 8.1 build 14219 brings cellular data toggle to Action Center

Windows Phone 8.1 build 14219Microsoft has released the new Windows Phone 8.1 build 14219 to those registered in the Preview for Developers program. The update enables the alpha version of Cortana for devices in France, Italy, Germany and Spain. It also brings the highly requested cellular data toggle to the Windows Phone Action Center.

Once you have installed build 14219 on your Windows Phone you will be able to add the cellular data toggle to your Action Center and access it with a single swipe from the top of your Start Screen. You can enable the cellular data toggle in your action center by:
  • Swipe down from your Start Screen
  • Click on All Settings
  • Select Notification + Action
  • Tape on one of the four quick settings boxes you want to use for your cellular data toggle.
  • Scroll down the list and select "cellular data" from the list
  • The toggle will now appear on your Action Center and you can switch cellular data on and off quickly.

You can install the update directly on your device OTA as long as you are registered in the Windows Phone Preview for Developers. You get get the update by heading to Settings > Phone update and clicking Check for Updates.


Before installing the update, make sure you have at least 1.5GB of free space on your device, and that your battery is fully charged. The update should take around 20 - 30 minutes to complete.
