Nokia 3.1 receives Android 9.0 Pie software update

The ultra-affordable Nokia 3.1 is now receiving the Android 9.0 Pie software update. As usual, the news was revealed by HMD's Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas on Twitter. HMD has honored its promise to serve the Pie update to its entire lineup, bringing the latest version of Android to even its lower end devices like the Nokia 2.1 last month.

The Nokia 3.1 features a 5.2-inch display with a 720 by 1440 pixel resolution, up to 32GB of internal storage, a 12MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor with up to 3GB of RAM. This affordable smartphone sometimes retails for less than $150 in the US fully unlocked for GSM networks.

Android Pie will bring features like Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, intuitive navigation and various notification improvements along with security upgrades to the handset. With the Nokia 3.1 being updated, that leaves the Nokia 5.1 next in line for the update later this month, followed by the Nokia 3 and Nokia 1 sometime in "early Q2."
