Nokia 8 Sirocco receives Android 9.0 Pie software update

HMD Global is now pushing out the Android 9.0 Pie software update to the Nokia 8 Sirocco. The update comes a month after the company pushed Android Pie for the Nokia 8, and despite its flagship status follows its lower end siblings like the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 7.1 in receiving the latest version of Android.

With Android Pie, the Nokia 8 Sirocco gains new features like App Actions, Slices, Adaptive Battery, new system navigation based on predictions and suggestions, and Digital Wellbeing functionality. Digital Wellbeing on your Android device lets you better manage your smartphone use with features like App Timers, Wind Down, and Do Not Disturb. As a member of the Android One family, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will offer a “pure Google” software experience. On top of the Android Pie features, HMD Global has also included the December Security update for Android.

According to NokiaPowerUser, the update is being pushed out to batches over-the-air and is reportedly 1.4GB in size. Once you receive the OTA update notification, it is recommended that you connect to strong Wi-Fi and have your device fully charged before initiating the update.
