Apple iPhone 8, iPhone XR, and iPhone XS prices lowered in China

Apple is working hard to improve sales of their iPhones in China by applying price cuts to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. This news comes after National Business Daily reported that Apple was cutting iPhone production in the country.

Most of the models are receiving price reductions of 400 yuan (about $59), while the iPhone XR gets the biggest price cut of 450 yuan (around $66) bringing its price down to 5250 yuan (around $770). These are direct price cuts, unlike the trade-in deals Apple offered to customers in the U.S. behind reduced price banners.

Still, Apple has managed to add an asterisk to this deal, requiring customers to purchase the products from Apple Premium Resellers or licensed online stores if they want to take advantage of the reduced prices. Apple themselves are not offering the lower prices in their Apple Stores or website. Customers will, however, still be able to apply these reductions at Apple Stores if an old model is replaced.

China is not the only country where iPhones cost higher prices than in the U.S. and we are curious to see if Apple will attempt similar strategies to win back some brand loyalty in other regions around the world.
