Windows 10 October 2018 Update is now available for download

After resolving all of the issues and bugs, Microsoft has released the October 2018 update for Windows 10. You can download the update to your device through Windows Update, or wait for Microsoft to automatically push it to your device during the company's monthly Patch Tuesday.

Some of the issues the update faced include compatibility issues with iCloud, VPN clients, and Trend Micro’s security software. Microsoft has been very transparent in detailing all of the issues over at the company’s support site, and it has now noted that Windows 10 October 2018 Update can be installed on your device reliably.

What's new in Windows 10 October 2018 update

Windows 10 October 2018 Update includes a number of new features. Perhaps the largest change is a new cloud-powered clipboard that will allow Windows 10 users to copy content across machines, and store a history of copied content in the cloud. It’s particularly useful if you use a desktop PC at home or work, and then a laptop on the go.

The Timeline feature on Windows 10 is also getting some new features with the October 2018 Update. Microsoft is building new extensions for both Chrome and Firefox that will allow the rival browsers to plug into the Timeline feature and sync tabs. This will make Timeline a lot more useful for Chrome users, even though some third-party extensions already exist and offer this functionality.

The update also includes the Your Phone app which is designed as a companion app to more closely align Android and iOS to Windows 10. Currently, most of the features are Android exclusive, allowing users to quickly sync photos taken on an Android device, or send and receive text messages with Windows 10 connecting to your Android phone.

Microsoft Launcher on Android will also gain access to Timeline, allowing you to sync more actions and content from an Android phone to a Windows 10 device. Timeline support is also coming to Microsoft Edge in a beta version due to debut in early November, allowing you to quickly access your tabs whether they were open on a PC or the mobile version of Edge.

Now with the Windows 10 October 2018 Update is rolling out, Microsoft will now shift towards the next major release Windows 10 version 1903 (also known by the “19H1” codename) will be the seventh major refresh to the platform. The update will include a new desktop experience, updates to the Start Menu, improvements to Search and more.
