Waze Carpool now available across the United States

Google started testing its Waze based carpooling service a couple of years ago, and went on to expand it to a few US cities earlier this year. Now the company has announced that it will be expanding its Waze Carpool service to the entire country.

Waze Carpool is not an exact alternate to services like Uber and Lyft. Instead, it is meant to match people who are going in the same direction and take them with you for the cost of gas.

As a Waze user, you will be able to join the service either as a driver or a rider (or both). Also, the service encourages drivers to team up with Waze Carpool for free rides for everyone at their companies.

With Waze Carpool Google hopes to help limit single occupancy on the roads with congestion. This is a great solution for big organizations, where several employees can avoid driving to work by carpooling together to help build a smarter city.
