Motorola Moto Z2 Play on Verizon receives Android 8.0 Oreo and September security patch

The Verizon branded is now receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo software update accompanied by the September security patch for Android. According to Verizon, the update has starting rolling out to handsets on its network earlier this week and comes with the ODS27.76-12-42 software version.

Since these updates roll out in waves, it may take a couple of days before it arrives on your device. You can wait for a notification, or try and check for it manually under Settings. Once you see the update, make sure your battery is fully charged and that you have a strong cellular or Wi-Fi connecting before you initiate the update on your Moto Z2 Play.

With Android 8.0 Oreo, your Moto Z2 Play will get several new features and improvements including picture-in-picture, which lets you watch a video while using a different app. You also get the notification dots, when there are too many notifications to display. You also get the ability to snooze specific notifications, a new interface for phone calls, an updated Settings menu that makes it easier to find what you are looking for.
