Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 officially announced

Meet the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2, which retains the overall design of its predecessor while introducing a new matte black color and updating its internal hardware.

DESIGN

The Surface Laptop 2 features a decent number of ports despite its portable size. On the left you have a single USB-A port, a Mini Display port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the right, the proprietary Surface connector for charging the device. It's a little annoying that Microsoft has skipped the USB-C port on their new laptop, even though the new Surface Headphones are charged using a USB-C cable.

HARDWARE

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 packs the most recent hardware, including Intel's 8th generation processors. Just like the new Surface Pro 6, you can pick up your new laptop with either Core i5 or Core i7 processors, based on your need. Storage options range between 128GB and 1TB, while memory configurations are available in 8GB or 16GB.

AVAILABILITY

You can pre-order the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 right now from the company's website in the US, with more markets expected to follow up in the coming months. The base model will set you back $999, with the cost going up to $2000 on the higher end version. Besides the new black color, the Surface Laptop 2 is available in Platinum, Burgundy and Cobalt Blue.
