Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on Verizon receive August Android security update

Verizon has started to push out the August Android security update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Samsung Galaxy S9+ on its network. The R16NW.G960USQS3ARG8 software version is being pushed out to the Galaxy S9, while the version for the Galaxy S9+ is getting version R16NW.G965USQS3ARG8.

The update is being pushed out over-the-air and will reach all handsets in waves, This means it may take a couple of days before the OTA notification arrives on your device. You can try checking for the update manually by heading to Settings > Software update > Download updates on your handset.

Once you get the OTA notification, make sure you are connected to a strong Wi-Fi signal, and that your battery is fully charged before downloading and installing your update.

The last update to both handsets was pushed out by Verizon in July and included several bug fixes and performance improvements along with the usual security patches. While this update does not bring any new features, it's highly recommended to help users stay secure.
