Apple announces event on September 12

Apple has scheduled a special event on September 12, at 10 AM PDT (1PM EDT) at the Steve Jobs Theater on Apple's Cupertino campus. Invitations have also been sent out to the media, for what is expected to be the official unveiling of the 2018 iPhone lineup.

According to rumors, Apple is expected to unveil three new iOS devices during this event:
  • A successor to the iPhone X with a 5.8 inch display and $899 price;
  • An iPhone X Plus with a 6.5 inch display and $999 price;
  • A new affordable iPhone with a 6.1 inch display and iPhone X design.
The two new flagships are expected to feature OLED displays and have dual-cameras on the rear while the cheaper model will come with an LCD panel and a single rear camera. All three handsets will be equipped with the TrueDepth Camera, and use Face ID to verify the identity of the user.

Rumors also suggest Apple may unveil newly designed iPads during this event with designs inspired by the iPhone X. These iPads will feature larger displays due to the reduced bezels, use gesture controls for navigation, include the TrueDepth Camera, and feature Face ID.

Apple may also unveil its next generation of Apple Watch during this event, and we cant help but wonder if the circular design shown in the press invitation suggests a round design for their new Apple Watch.

Following this event, Apple will also finalize the final versions of iOS 12, Apple Watch 5 and macOS 10.14 Mojave. Public releases of all of Apple's platforms should follow shortly after the event.
