Amazon Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets receive Alexa feature

Amazon Fire HD 10 users know the convenience of accessing their tablets hands-free with the Alexa virtual assistant. You can check your weather, order food or groceries, switch on your smart electronics, or book a ride all with your voice, without picking up your tablet. Now Amazon is bringing this functionality to the Amazon Fire 7 and the Amazon Fire HD 8.

While Alexa is already available on both these tablets, you will have to pick them up and activate the service by opening the app in its current state. Once this update rolls out, activating Alexa is as easy as simply saying "Alexa...". This feature will roll out to the Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 this week.

The advantage of using the Fire HD 10 however, is that the larger tablet can access the Alexa service at all times. Even when the screen is off or you are on battery power. The smaller tablets on the other hand require the screen to be on for the hands-free service to activate. It will however work with the screen off while the device is charging.
