Android Wear for iOS

Today Google has announced that certain Android Wear smartwatches can now be paired with select iPhone models running iOS 8.2 or higher. This comes courtesy of the new Android Wear for iOS app, which is now available for download on the Apple App Store.

Once you have installed the Android Wear app on your iPhone, you will have to pair your Android Wear device with your iPhone using the app. When paired, notifications, messages and calls received on your iPhone will be transmitted to your wearable. Additionally, Google Now will remind you of your upcoming appointments, reservations, traffic notices, weather and more.

Using the "OK, Google" phrase, you can directly communicate with your Android Wear device, gathering information, setting alarms or adding items to your to-do list. Additionally, you will also be able to track your fitness goals, heart rate along with running and walking distances.


Currently, only the following iPhone models support Android Wear - Apple iPhone 5, Apple iPhone 5c, Apple iPhone 5s, Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus. Also, the LG Watch Urbane is the only Android Wear device currently supported, with support for Asus, Huawei And Motorola wearables expected. Subsequent Android Wear models will also be able to pair with the iPhone.
