Asus Zenfone 2 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage introduced in North America for just $299

The Asus ZenFone 2 has been introduced for the North American market. The handset has already been released overseas, and Asus CEO Jonney Shih just showed off the handset on stage at Gotham Hall in New York City. The ZenFone 2 will be available unlocked in two variations starting tomorrow at Amazon, NewEgg, B&H, Groupon and more.

The Asus ZenFone 2 features a 5.5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, resulting in a 72% screen-to-body ratio. The handset is powered by the 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 SoC which includes a quad-core 2.3GHz CPU, and a PowerVR G6430 GPU.

What makes the ZenFone 2 stand out is the fact that it features 4GB of RAM, which should result in it handling multiple tasks and graphics intensive games with ease. It also packs a powerful 3000mAh battery will give you four hours of talk time with a ten-minute charge. The quick-charge feature allows it to power up from 0% to 60% in just 39 minutes.

Asus' PixelMaster 2 is now on both the 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras. By merging pixels, the cameras can produce pictures with 400% lighter images in low-light conditions. The manufacturer also has improved on the flash, offering what Shih calls a DSLR flash experience that is 100 times brighter than LED. The phone is equipped with five 3D laser antennas, dual-SIM capabilities and supports LTE-A connectivity with carrier aggregation.

The Asus ZenFone 2 is priced at $299 and that is for the 4GB RAM model with 64GB of native storage. Accessories include a $40 Flip Cover and a 10400mAh power bank for $19.

Asus will also offer a variant of the ZenFone 2 with 16GB of storage, priced at $199. However this model will be powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 and have only 2GB of RAM.
