HTC One M9 Plus officially announced with 5.2 inch Quad HD display, fingerprint scanner and Duo camera

HTC One M9 Plus

Just weeks after unveiling the HTC One M9, HTC has officially unveiled a brand new device - the HTC One M9 Plus,  which features a nearly identical, beautiful unibody metal design, but comes with a larger display, a fingerprint scanner built in a home button and a Duo Camera setup.

Unfortunately it looks like the HTC One M9 will be an exclusive for the Chinese market for now, with no news on international availability.

The HTC One M9 Plus features a 5.2 inch LCD display with a 1440 x 2560 pixel (Quad HD) resolution, 32GB of internal storage, a 20MP 'Duo' rear camera, a 4MP UltraPixel front camera and a 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795T processor with 3GB of RAM. The handset runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with HTC 'China Sense'. The phone will be offered in three colors: a combination of silver and gold on the side, an all-gold one, and a gunmetal grey model. It also packs the familiar dual front-firing BoomSound speakers with support for Dolby Surround.

The fingerprint scanner has enabled support for the popular in Asia AliPay Wallet cashless payment system. While Apple Pay is right now the trendy solution for payments, its use is limited to the United States, and with this move, HTC backs a rival mobile payment system designed specifically for the Chinese market.

HTC has made a few interesting choices with the introduction of the HTC One M9 Plus, which were not offered to the 'flagship' HTC One M9. The Quad HD display and the fingerprint scanner are becoming standards on Android flagships, and the Duo camera which set the HTC smartphone apart from its competitors has been reserved for a China exclusive phone. We can't help but wonder if the Snapdragon 810 CPU was a result of many of the choices made, and we can't wait to see how HTC will present a global variant of the HTC One M9 Plus, if there ever is one.
