GMail for iOS updated (4.0) with three new features

GMail for iOS updated (4.0)Google has updated GMail for iOS to version 4.0 with three distinct new features, along with the usual improvements and bug fixes. Among the new features is Quick Actions, which allows iOS users to directly reply to an email from a notification. This can save you some valuable time, as you wont have to open the GMail app.

The update also adds a feature allowing you to attach photos and documents to Gmail directly from another app. Additionally, you can now open and view an attachment from GMail into any app.

You can download the update directly on your iOS device through the Apple App Store or by using the following link:

GMail for iOS version 4.0 has the following new features and improvements:
  • Take quick actions - Archive or reply to messages directly from a notification
  • Email files from other apps - Attach photos and documents to Gmail right from your favorite apps
  • New attachment viewer - Open attachments from Gmail into any app
If you are a regular GMail user, you may also want to consider Inbox by GMail. This modern version of your GMail inbox, lets you organize your mail better and also gives you the power to recall an email before it is read. Your entire mailbox is managed like a to-do list, allowing you to make the emails you have dealt with as completed, and snooze emails you want to attend to later.

Inbox for iOS is currently available on an invite only basis, and Google is hoping they can migrate more users toward, Inbox as only 30% of iOS users currently use the service. Google even recently discontinued Sparrow for iOS in hopes of migrating these users to Inbox. You can request an invite to try out Inbox, send an email to inbox@google.com.
