AT&T confirms availability of Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL

AT&T has confirmed that it will be offering both the Microsoft Lumia 640 and the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL on its network. Both new affordable Windows Phones were announced today by Microsoft, and will be released around the world starting April.

Both Lumia handsets run the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1, which includes the Lumia Denim update. Microsoft has also confirmed that the handsets will be updated to Windows 10 later this year. The Lumia 640 is the smaller of the two, featuring a 5 inch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, an 8MP rear camera, a 1MP front camera, a 2500mAh battery and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM.

The Lumia 640 XL features a larger 5.7-inch display with the same , 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. It also features a larger 3000mAh battery.

AT&T didn't say how much its Lumia 640 and 640 XL would cost, but since its likely that the carrier will offer the LTE variant of the handset, it will likely align with €159 for the Lumia 640 and €219 for the Lumia 640 XL - which probably means $159 and $219 for the US market (off contract).
