Skype for iOS update (5.10) brings back URI support

Skype for iOSMicrosoft has released Skype for iOS version 5.10, which brings Skype URI support back to iPhones, along with new improvements to the dialer and chat notification. Skype is a cross platform application owned by Microsoft which offers messaging, voice and video calls between Skype users.

The reintroduction of Universal Resource Identifier (URI) support will allows users to launch Skype from anywhere within iOS, when tapping a relevant Skype name or number. This feature will also enable developers to easily use Skype’s messaging and calling infrastructure to start calls and chats straight from their mobile app or mobile website, rather than building their own.

The update also brings improvements to the dialer, allowing users to save phone numbers entered into the dial pad and also phone numbers in your recent calls list. When you save the phone numbers, you can easily create new contacts so you don't have to search for the number next time you call. Skype team has also made improvements in chat notification reliability.
