Samsung Galaxy S5 with Exynos receives Android 5.0 Lollipop

Lollipop for Galaxy S5 ExynosThe Samsung Galaxy S5 started receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update back in December. The phone's homeland of South Korea was the first to receive the update, but it has since been spreading to regions throughout the globe.

We have already seen the Lollipop update rollout to users in Russia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Even Verizon in the U.S. started pushing out the update to its Galaxy S5 users. However, until now only the Snapdragon 801 variant has been receiving the Lollipop update, but starting today Samsung has begun rolling out Lollipop to the Exynos variant (SM-G900H) of the handset is also being treated to the latest version of Android.

As usual, the update is being rolled out in phases, with the folks at Kazakhstan being the first to savor the treat. The update is being pushed out OTA (over-the-air) and you will receive a notification when it is available for your device. You can manually check for the update availability by heading to Settings > System > About device > Software update on your device. If you prefer the traditional method of updating your smartphone, you can try installing the update using the latest version of Samsung Kies.

The new update brings in a redesigned user interface and Material Design-inspired stock Samsung proprietary applications (dialer, messaging, clock, settings, etc), improved performance and stability, lock screen notifications, improved fingerprint recognition, heads-up notifications, and more.
