Apple iTunes 12.1.1 released for Windows

Apple iTunes 12.1.1 for WindowsApple has released iTunes 12.1.1 for the Windows platform. The new release doesn't seem to bring any new features, but rather aims at fixing bugs, improving general functionality and enhancing the overall performance of the multimedia suite.

Among the improvements is a fix for an audio playback issue, smooth syncing between Outlook and iOS devices, and improved compatibility with screen readers

If you have iTunes installed, you can download the update by running Apple Software Update on your Windows PC. You can also download the update using the following link:

The update to Windows, follows the release of iTunes 12.1 for Mac OS X Yosemite, which notably brought an iTunes widget to the Notification Center. Now it looks like Apple has shifted its focus to the Windows platform.

The iTunes multimedia suite isn't as popular as it once was, largely due to the fact that iOS devices can now operate fully independently from the computer. Even when it comes to music and multimedia, there are various alternatives like Pandora, Spotify, Netflix and Amazon which give Apple users what they need.

Still Apple is not quite ready to give up on iTunes, as the company may be looking to integrate the recently purchased Beats Music into iTunes in the near future.
