Xiaomi Redmi 2 announced with 64-bit processor and LTE connectivity

The was announced on Sunday as the successor to the Xiaomi Redmi 1S. The handset comes with an upgraded 64-bit 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 CPU and LTE connectivity that will support multiple carrier networks.

With multicarrier LTE support the Xiaomi Redmi 2 will be able to connect to the 4G LTE networks belonging to China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile.

Other hardware specs include 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded by an additional 64GB of microSD, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, a 2200mAh battery, Adreno 306 graphics and 1GB of RAM. Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 can be pre-ordered starting today for the equivalent of $112.60 USD. The phone will officially launch on January 9th and will be available in white, black, green, yellow and pink.

Xiaomi is also expected to announce a sequel to the Xiaomi Redmi Note phablet and unveil a new flagship device.
