Xiaomi Mi Note officially announced with 6.95 inch thin frame and 3GB of RAM

The Xiaomi Mi Note was officially announced today by the Chinese manufacturer after teasing the device heavily last week. The large screen device was unveiled alongside the more powerful Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, and offers a powerful device, inside a lean profile at an affordable price.

The Xiomi Mi Note phablet has a design similar to the Xiaomi Mi4. However unlike the relatively thick Mi4, the Mi Note’s metal frame measures in at 0.27 inches (or 6.95 mm). Xiaomi was eager to point out that it was thinner (0.28 in / 7.1 mm), shorter and narrower than the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. Xiaomi also points out that the bezels on the Mi Note measure only 0.008 in (0.2 mm), and that the device is relatively light (5.68 oz / 161 g) and compact (6.1 x 3.06 in / 155.1 x 77.6 mm) for a device of its class.

The Xiaomi Mi Note features a 5.7 inch 2.5D display, with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and a 387 ppi pixel density. Other specs include 16GB/64GB of internal storage, a 3,000 mAh battery with QuickCharge 2.0, and a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 graphics and 3GB of RAM. The phablet also features Hi-Fi audio, offering 24-bit/192 KHz lossless playback thanks to the built-in ESS ES9018K2M DAC and two OPA1612 amp chips from Texas Instruments.



There is a 13 megapixel camera from Sony on its rear with a f/2.0 lens (likely the IMX214), optical stabilization and a dual tone LED flash by Philips. In the front you will find one of the 4MP UltraPixel cameras from the HTC One M8 with big, 2µm pixels.

On the software side you get Android 5.0 Lollipop, which has been coated with Xiaomi’s MIUI version 6. The company also demonstrated a new one-handed mode and for the Mi Note and a reader mode, which adjusts the display brightness based on your environment.

The The Xiaomi Mi Note will be priced at ¥2299 (~$371) for its 16GB version, while the 64GB version will cost ¥2799 (~$451) in China. Potential customers will be able to preorder the Mi Note on January 20th, and the phablet will be shipped out to them on Friday, January 27.
