Samsung Galaxy S5 in U.K. receives Android 5.0 Lollipop

Samsung Galaxy S5The Samsung Galaxy S5 in UK (SM-G900F) is currently receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop software update. We already reported that the update was rolling out in Europe, and even in some parts in Asia. Unfortunately customers in the U.S. are still waiting to savor the latest Android treat.

The update will arrive to Galaxy S5 customers through an OTA (over-the-air) notification, but it can also be downloaded through the Samsung Kies software suite. The update is around 1.4GB in size, so users are advised to fully charge their handsets and connect it to Wi-Fi before initiating the OTA.

The update brings Android 5.0 build LRX21T, and not the newer Android 5.0.1 or Android 5.0.2 which some of the other devices are receiving. Samsung will likely release another update sometime in the future to cover anything it has missed with this release.

Once you update your Galaxy S5 to Lollipop, you will notice several new features and improvements. YOu will notice the updated multitasking, improved notifications, NFC device setup, and ART as the default runtime. Samsung's TouchWiz UI which runs on top of Lollipop will also have several tweaks and improvements.
