Nokia Z Launcher (beta) updated with icon pack support and other UI improvements

Nokia Z LauncherThe Nokia Z Launcher, which was recently launched as an open beta on the Google Play Store, has been updated to version 1.1.2 with a few new features and improvements. The Z Launcher, which also happens to be the default UI on the Nokia N1 tablet, offers a single home screen with a clock widget, a short list of your recently-used apps, and a regular dock at the bottom of the screen. What's unique about this launcher is that you can search through your apps by writing their names directly on your home screen.

You can download the update directly on your Android device through the Google Play Store or by using the following links:

The Nokia Z Launcher (beta) version 1.1.2 has the following changelog:
  • Preliminary support for icon packs
  • Long press on text - you can uninstall or hide app app from the ranked list, in addition to existing long-press behavior such as long-pressing the icon to drag it to the favorites bar
  • UI improvements for a wide range of Android devices
  • Improved design and performance of carousel widgets
  • Improved Scribble handwriting recognition
  • Play store icon will load Play store without pre-searched text (We heard you on this one!)
  • Bug fixes
While the Z Launcher originally launched any customization features, Nokia hopes to rectify this with the update which includes icon pack support. Additionally Nokia has also improved the long-press functionality, which now allows you to uninstall or hide an app more easily. Its still not possible to rearrange the existing dock icons unfortunately, and we hope its something Nokia hopes to address in a future update.
