Asus announces new Windows hybrids at CES

Asus Windows hybrids at CES 2015

Besides announcing the Asus ZenFone 2 and the Asus ZenFone Zoom smartphones, the company has also announced a trio of laptop/tablet hybrids running Windows.

The tablets are part of the Asus Transformer Book Chi line and come with magnetic keyboard which transform them into laptop form. The line can be viewed as direct competition to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3.

The largest is the Asus Transformer Book Chi T300 which features a 12.5 inch display. This device comes in two variants - One featuring a 1080p IPS display, an Intel Core M 5Y70 CPU clocked at 0.8Ghz, and 4GB of RAM, which will cost you $699. The other comes with a Quad HD IPS screen, an Intel Core M 5Y71 processor clocked at 1.2Ghz, as well as 8GB of RAM, which boosts the price to $799.

Asus also boasted that the T300 is thinner than Apple's latest MacBook Air, though it weighs 1,445 grams (when docked with the detachable keyboard) making it a rather heavy tablet.

Next we have the Asus Transformer Book Chi T100 which features a 10.1 inch display with a 1900 x 1200 pixel resolution. This model is powered by an Intel Atom Z3775 processor and is priced at $399.

The Asus Transformer Book Chi T90 is the smallest of the trio with an 8.9 inch display and a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. This tablet will only cost you $299 and also features the same 64-bit quad-core processor as its larger counterpart.

The new Asus Transformer Book Chi line will be available sometime this February.
