Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play edition receives Android 5.0 Lollipop

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play edition is now receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop software update. This means the Xperia Z Ultra GPe is one of the first of its family to be updated to Lollipop.

Meanwhile, owners of devices like the HTC One M7 GPe, HTC One M8 GPe and Samsung Galaxy S4 GPe are still waiting to receive their Lollipop updates.

Xperia Z Ultra GPe owners will receive a notification when Android 5.0 Lollipop is available for download. At this point it is advised that you are connected to Wi-Fi and that your battery is fully charged before your initiate the 397MB update.

Besides the evident Material Design visual update, the new version of Android will also bring revamped lockscreen notifications, improved battery saving mode, better performance, improved security, and a number of other features.

Its important to note that the update will be rolled out in stages, so you may not receive the OTA notification immediately. You can also manually check for the update's availability by heading to "Settings" and clicking the "Check for software updates" option.
