Microsoft acquires Acompli

Acompli has announced that it has been acquired by Microsoft. The entire team and products which include Acompli for Android and Acompli for iOS, will become a part of Microsoft's vision for mobile productivity.

In a blog post announcing the move, Rajesh Jha, corporate VP of Outlook and Office 365, said the purchase is "part of a company-wide effort to help people accomplish more with their mobile devices."

Acompli is one of several startups with hopes of improving the email experience; others in the category include Sunrise, WeMail, Google's Inbox and Tipbit. Dropbox also purchased Mailbox, which was of the biggest players in its category, Mailbox, for a reported $100 million last year.

While the exact terms of the deal were not outlined by either party; reports suggest that Microsoft is paying around $200 million for Acompli, which had a total finding of about 7.3 million in a Series A round led by Redpoint Ventures.
