LG G Pad 8.3 for Verizon receives minor update

LG G Pad 8.3Verizon is pushing out a minor software update to the LG G Pad 8.3 on its network. The update will bring the VK81023A software version and is being pushed out to the tablet OTA as we speak.

The update removes support for the Redbox Instant app on the tablet, since the joint venture between the largest carrier in the US and the streaming video service came to an end in October.

Additionally the update adds support for 4G LTE roaming in select markets and fixes and issue users faced when powering up the device.

The LG G Pad 8.3 was launched for Verizon customers on October 7th. It features an 8.3 inch display with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5MP rear camera, a 1.3MP front camera, a 4600mAh battery, and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM.

The handset runs Android 4.2.2 on the software side, and is expected to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update at some point early next year.
