BLU Studio 7.0 announced with a 7 inch display and $149 price

BLU Studio 7.0

When smartphones cross the 7 inch display size, they are usually considered tablets. While handsets between 5 and 6 inches fall under the phablet category. Well, that’s not the case with the Blu Studio 7.0, which today was announced as a "the world's first 7-inch smartphone."

What's more, this large size smartphone is being offered at an affordable device. It can be purchased starting today on Amazon for just $149 and is compatible with "any GSM network" in the US - including AT&T and T-Mobile.

BLU is a US-based smartphone manufacturer based in Miami. The company is known primarily for designing affordable Android smartphones, but recently added some Windows Phone 8.1 handsets to its portfolio.

The BLU Studio 7.0 measures 187.5 x 103 x 9.4 mm and weighs 294 grams. The handset is available in four colors: grey, white, blue, and gold.

Because of its affordable price, the manufacturer has cut short on some of the device's features. The handset's 7 inch display has a 600 x 1024 pixel resolution, which results in an unimpressive 169 ppi pixel density. You also get 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5MP camera on the rear with LED flash, a 2MP camera up-front, a 3000 mAh battery and a 1.3GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. On the software side you get Android 4.4 KitKat
