LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition receives Android 5.0 Lollipop

LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition receives Android 5.0 LollipopWhile the Nexus and Google Play edition (GPe) devices are expected to be first in line to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google has been falling short in delivering the updates to these handsets, especially to the GPe devices. Fortunately a new report suggests that the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition is now receiving the Android Lollipop update.

According to reports, users are receiving the notification to download the latest version of Android, which brings a Material Design inspired user interface, updated multitasking, new interactive lockscreen notifications, power savings courtesy of Project Volta, Priority Mode, Smart Lock and more.

The update is being rolled out in stages as usual, so it may be a couple of days before you receive the notification to install the update. You could head over to the (Android Police) link below to manually download and flash the update if you dont want to wait for the official rollout.

Naturally you'll need a stock recovery in order for the OTA or an ADB manual flash to take, and any extensive modifications of the stock system (including root) are going to block it as well. Once you've got everything up and running, don't be surprised if you see a few bugs - the initial Android 5.0 updates for Nexus phones and tablets haven't been completely smooth.

Hopefully the rest of the Google Play edition device owners wont have to wait long to receive Lollipop.
