Google reveals Android 10 release date

According to a report from PhoneArena, the final version of Android 10 (aka Android Q) sill be released for Pixel phones on September 3, 2019. While other manufacturers are already working on their own Android 10 updates for their handsets, it may be a while before it arrives on other devices.

The Android 10 update will be arriving on all Pixel devices, including the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Interestingly, the original Pixel and Pixel XL which were released back in 2016, will also be updated to Android 10 despite being outside Google's two-year support window. Google usually offers only two years of major software releases alongside three years of security updates to their own smartphones.

Android 10 is a major release for Google, bringing several new features and improvements to the platform. Among these improvements will be native support for foldable phones, 5G support, Live Captions, Smart Reply, and Suggested Actions, along with improvements to security and privacy. The update will also bring seamless background updates, improvements to digital wellbeing and parental controls and a system-wide dark mode.
