Alcatel 3, Alcatel 3L and Alcatel 1S smartphones announced alongside Alcatel 3T 10 tablet

Alcatel and its parent company TCL have been committed to offering a range of affordable devices, and at this year's MWC the company once again had an updated lineup of low-cost smartphones and a budget tablet on display.

Alcatel 3

The Alcatel 3 features a 5.9-inch Super Full View display with a 1560x720 pixel (HD+) resolution. The device has slim bezels and a waterdrop notch on the top which houses the 8MP front-facing camera.

The device itself is made of glossy plastic and comes in two gradient colors the company is calling Blue-Purple and Black-Blue.

On the back, you have a dual camera setup which consists of a 13-megapixel sensor (increased to 16-megapixels via software) accompanied by a 5-megapixel one. You also have a fingerprint scanner located under the cameras. Under the hood, you have a 3500mAh battery and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 439 chipset keeping things running.

The handset runs Android 8.1 Oreo with an Android 9 Pie update expected to arrive next quarter.

The Alcatel 3 will go on sale during the second quarter of this year in Europe. Customers will have the option of purchasing the 32GB model with 3GB of RAM for €159 (around $180) or the 64GB model with 4GB of RAM for €189 (around $214).

The Alcatel 3L is a cheaper variant of the Alcatel 3. Visually both handsets are nearly identical, featuring the same glossy plastic body with a metallic color. The handset will be offered in Metallic Blue and Anthracite Black.

Internals include 16GB of internal storage, dual (13MP+5MP) rear cameras, an 8MP front camera, and a Snapdragon 429 chipset with 2GB of RAM. While Android 8.1 Oreo is onboard, expect an Android Pie update in the next quarter.

The Alcatel 3L will be available to consumers starting Q2 of 2019 and will cost just €139 ($157) in Europe.

Alcatel 1S

Alcatel 1S

The Alcatel 1S is the cheapest in the lineup, featuring a 5.5-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio with a 720x1440 pixel resolution. You have a similar teardrop style notch housing a 5MP camera, while a dual (13MP+2MP) camera setup can be found on the rear, allowing depth sensing and bokeh imagery on portraits.

Other specs include 32GB of storage, a 3060mAh battery, and a 1.6GHz octa-core Speadtrum-branded chipset with 3GB of RAM. Interestingly, the Alcatel 1S comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box.

The Alcatel 1S will go on sale during the second quarter of 2019 in Europe. The handset will cost €109 ($123) and will be available in Black and Blue.

Alcatel 3T 10

Alcatel's portfolio is completed by an affordable Android tablet, the Alcatel 3T 10. Its highlights are its 10-inch display and its dual front-facing speakers. It has 16GB of internal storage, an unspecified processor and 2GB of RAM. Its battery is also not very impressive at 4080mAh.

Alcatel has built this tablet with media consumption in mind, and have created an optional Audio Station accessory that can be connected to the tablet. It acts just like a portable speaker and can offer up to seven hours of non-stop music playback. Media can also be played from external devices thanks to the 3.5mm jack, micro-USB port, and microSD card slot.

Potential customers will be able to purchase the Alcatel 3T 10 for €179 ($203) across Europe. You can also purchase the Audio Station accessory bundled with the tablet for €229 ($259).
