Nokia 8 receives Android Pie public beta

Nokia 8 receives Android 9.0 software update

HMD Global has started seeding out Android 9.0 Pie for the Nokia 8, but only as part of a public beta program. We assume that once the beta is concluded successful, the update will be pushed out to all users around the world.

HMD Global breathed new life into the Nokia brand back in 2016, releasing solid yet affordable Android smartphones into the market and providing customers with stellar software support for their new devices.

HMD Global has already pushed the Android Pie update out to the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 7.1. While the update was initially scheduled to arrive for the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco in November, HMD's Chief Product Officer explained that (while) the Nokia brand remains committed to pushing updates “as fast as possible”, but alas, sometimes the unforeseen happens.

Now by announcing the release of Android 9 Pie for the Nokia 8 as a public beta, we see HMD is cautious about the release, ensuring it is bug-free before reaching the general public. If you would like to test out Android 9 Pie on your Nokia 8, head over to the Nokia Beta Labs page to get started.
