Apple increases trade-in credit on old iPhones for a limited time

Apple GiveBack is a service provided by the manufacturer, which pays customers credit towards a new iPhone when they trade in their existing one. For a limited time, Apple has increased the amount of credit they are giving towards certain older devices when you purchase a new iPhone.

As part of this promotion, Apple is giving customers up to $300 in store credit when they trade in an iPhone 8 or older and purchase a brand new iPhone from Apple. The iPhone 8 Plus and newer devices are not affected by this promotion, The exact amount of trade-in credit is determined by the phone you’re handing over:

Trade-in Device Original Credit Total with Extra Credit*
iPhone 6 $75 $150
iPhone 6 Plus $100 $200
iPhone 6s $100 $200
iPhone 6s Plus $150 $250
iPhone 7 $175 $250
iPhone 7 Plus $250 $300
iPhone 8 $275 $300

With recent reports suggesting that Apple was cutting production on their iPhones due to poor demand, it is interesting to note that the ongoing promotion is only open to those who are upgrading to one of the 2018 iPhones - the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR.

The promotion is reportedly set to run through the rest of this year and end on January 31st, 2019.
