Samsung Galaxy J4 Core announced as company's second Android Go phone

The Samsung Galaxy J2 Core was the company's first Android Go smartphone, which debuted back in August. Today the company has released a second member to its Android Go lineup, the Samsung Galaxy J4 Core.

The Galaxy J4 Core like its predecessor is designed to be an entry-level smartphone but offers slightly better specs. The handset features a 6-inch HD display with a 720x1480 pixel resolution, 16GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, a 3300mAh battery and a 1.4GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

The handset runs Android Go (based on Android Oreo) a stripped down version of Android which includes optimized versions of Google's apps and services built for low-end hardware. While customers can download regular apps from the Google Play Store, the operating system has been optimized to recommend apps that best suit the hardware.

Samsung has yet to announce pricing or availability details for the handset, but we expect it to be priced below $150.
