Nokia 7.1 receives Android 9.0 software update

HMD Global has been offering stellar software support for their Nokia device lineup, quickly pushing out Android 9.0 Pie to the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 7 Plus. Now the Nokia 7.1 has become the latest handset to receive the newest version of Android.

The news of the update was shared by HMD Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas on Twitter, who reiterated the company's commitment to offering the Android Pie update "across the portfolio as fast as possible".

The Nokia 7.1 is a popular mid-range smartphone, available across multiple markets including the US for a reasonable $350. The handset features a 5.8-inch display, up to 64GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, dual (12MP+5MP) rear cameras, an 8MP front camera, a fingerprint scanner, a 3060mAh battery and a Snapdragon 636 chipset with up to 4GB of RAM.

The update is being pushed out over-the-air (OTA) and in phases to ensure the “highest quality and experience” is delivered. It is important to note that “some markets with longer technical approval cycles” may have to wait a while before the update is available to them. In any case, once you receive the OTA notification, make sure your battery is fully charged and that you are connected to WiFi before downloading and installing the update.
