Samsung Galaxy Note 9 receives October security update

The is receiving a software update which brings the Android October security update to the handset along with improvements from Samsung. The update is said to be around 67.5MB in size and has the N960FXXS2ARJ4 version number.

According to Google, the October security update resolves 12 Android OS critical vulnerabilities. Samsung has included fixes for an additional 11 vulnerabilities found in its own software, including important fixes for an invalid free vulnerability in the fingerprint trustlet that allows an attacker to perform arbitrary code execution, a buffer overflow vulnerability in the esecomm trustlet.

Galaxy Note 9 users in Central and Eastern Europe are the first receiving the update as it makes its way across the globe. You should receive a notification on your device before you can download the OTA (over-the-air) update, but you can manually check for its availability by heading to Settings > Software Updates. Just make sure that your device is fully charged and that you are connected to a strong WiFi network before initiating the update.
