MediaTek Helio P70 announced - A mid range chipset with great energy efficiency and improved AI processing

MediaTek Helio P70 announced
MediaTek has unveiled the Helio P70 processor - a mid-range chipset which "builds on the P60’s global success", as an affordable alternative to Qualcomm's chips in emerging markets.

On paper, the Helio P70 is very comparable to Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 675 mobile platform.

The MediaTek Helio P70 is built on TSMC’s 12 nm FinFET architecture, and promises to deliver "high performance" balanced with "incredible" energy efficiency. You get support for AI applications, impressive camera specifications and a "fast, fluid and fun gaming" experience.

The octa-core CPU consists of A53 cores and performance-focused Cortex-A73 cores clocked at up to 2.1 GHz offering 13 percent more speed than the P60. The graphics processing unit is a Mali-G72 MP3 with a maximum 900 MHz frequency, while an integrated multi-core APU (AI Processing Unit) operating at up to 525 MHz offers 30 percent more AI power.

The Helio P70 can process photographs up to 32GB, as well as capture photos on dual camera setups with up to 24MP + 16MP sensors.

The chipset includes all the “latest connectivity standards” with VoLTE, ViLTE, VoWi-Fi, global eMBMS, HPUE, and 600 MHz (Band 71) frequency.
