HTC Exodus 1 announced - A blockchain smartphone with flagship specs and a Bitcoin price

The HTC Exodus 1 is a new smartphone from the company that uses the blockchain concept to offer "decentralized applications and security" to its users. We've already seen the Finney from Sirin Labs offer the similar device, but this is a first from a major company like HTC.

The HTC Exodus 1 is an early access device, and the only way you can get one is by paying in Bitcoins or Ethereum currency. HTC is opening up its APIs to cryptographers and developers, so this device will only grow more useful with time.


HARDWARE

The HTC Exodus 1 will feature a 6-inch QHD+ display, 128GB of internal storage, dual (12MP+16MP) rear cameras with "high quality" zoom, dual (8MP+8MP) front cameras, a3500mAh battery and a Snapdragon 845 chipset with 6GB of RAM.

It also looks like it will feature a transparent design, showing off its internals through its back cover.

CRYPTO CAPABILITIES

Your cryptocurrency keys or tokens, as well as your private data, will be stored in a secure section that is invisible to the Android Oreo based system the phone actually runs on.

Developers will be given access to the Zion API, which they can use the Exodus hardware for signing transactions, while a wallet SDK can be had by trusted partners that intend to develop the new Exodus ecosystem.

Release and Availability

The HTC Exodus 1 has been priced at BTC 0.15 (ETH 4.78) which equates to around $960. You can gain access to the early access programme at htcexodus.com in 34 countries, starting with the US, Taiwan, HK, Singapore, New Zealand, UK, Austria, Norway, and other European countries. The shipments are expected to start in December.
