Google Maps update offers improved daily commuting in the US among other improvementsGoogle Maps for iOS and Android has been updated with several new features and improvements including new commute features for customers in the United States and Canada. This update follows the last major update to both platforms which brought big changes to Google Maps.

The new Commute tab in Google Maps offers users in-depth details on live traffic and transit information, which has been customized for each user's commute. If you are using Google Maps for Android, you will also receive notifications on delays and disruptions on your route in real time.

Another new feature on Maps helps users who's commute involves both driving and public transport, by offering info like when to leave, and updates for each part of your trip - traffic during your drive, train departure times, and time to walk from station to workplace etc.


Additionally, Google announced that transit riders in 80 regions around the world will now have real-time information on their next bus and train. Google also confirmed that this feature will be extended to more cities around the world in the coming months.

The update also includes music integration with Google Maps, allowing users to play Spotify,  Apple Music or Google Play Music from within Maps. Users will be able to control their music or podcasts from within the app's navigation. Spotify users on Android will also be able to able to choose your favorite content by browsing through song, albums, podcasts, and playlists.
