Samsung Galaxy J7 an J7 V on Verizon receive Android 8.0 Oreo

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo software update to the Galaxy J7 and Galaxy J7 V on Verizon. The update is being pushed out to both handsets over-the-air, and you should receive a notification when it is available for download.

Once you receive the notification, Verizon advices users to make sure their battery is fully charged and that they are connected to strong Wi-Fi before initiating the download.

Besides bringing the August security patch, the update adds some important new features and improvements to the handsets. Among the improvements is the Dual Messenger capability, which allows owners to use two different accounts with one chatting app. You also get a brand new phone dialer with a clean UI design. The Mute and Keypad menu positions have been swapped to avoid accidentally turning on the Mute button during a call.

The update will also remove apps like NFL, Slacker Radio and VZ Navigator by default, allowing users who want them to download them manually from the Google Play Store.
