Sirin Finney is the world's first blockchain smartphone

Meet the Finney from Sirin Labs, the world's first blockchain phone. The handset packs powerful hardware, an Android based SirinOS and promises state of the art cyber protection.

Blockchain is an anonymous peer-to-peer network developed for Bitcoin cryptocurrency, that only members of that particular network can access. Any change to the blockchain must be approved by all the members of the network. It is said to be immune to hacking, and therefore provides a safer backdrop for keeping track of financial transactions.

The Finney is equipped with a cold storage cryptocurrency wallet that is not connected to the internet. This prevents hackers from gaining access to any Bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies stored in the wallet.

The Finney smartphone has an interesting design. While at first glance it looks like any regular smartphone, there is a slide up panel on the back which reveals a second screen. While its purpose is not made clear, its assumed to be part of the phone's secure crypto transactions

The Finney smartphone features a 6 inch display with a 18:9 aspect ratio and a 1080 x 2160 pixel FHD+ resolution. The glass panels on the front and back of the device are protected by Gorilla Glass.

You get 128GB of internal storage, a 12MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP front camera, an "ultra-secure" fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and an octa-core Snapdragon 845 mobile platform with 6GB of RAM.

The 3000mAh battery features quick-charge, allowing 50% of power in 30 minutes. Its IP52 certification protects it from spashles.

The handset is running SirinOS which appears to be a customized version of Android. The company claims that SirinOS is "the only operating system secure enough for storing and using cryptocurrency in a mobile environment". Unfortunately the company has yet to demonstrate their operating system.

Sirin Labs raised $158 million in cryptocurrency crowdfunding and stated that it had 25,000 pre-orders for the device, which retails for $999. Those pre-ordering the phone using the company's Sirin Labs Tokens (SRN) get a $100 (10%) discount. Only 50 SRN Tokens, currently valued at $25.03 USD, are needed to reserve a Finney handset. Once the phone is released, the balance due will depend on the market value of the tokens at the time. The Finney will start shipping in November.
